Innovation Meets Investment at The Pitch, The Catch
The Canadian Centre for Rural Creativity is busy preparing for the inaugural The Pitch, the Catch, a rural Dragon’s Den, where the entrepreneur pitches their best to a group of catchers - investors who are used to making quality calls. They will come together on a field of dreams – a field where investment meets innovation, and investor connects with entrepreneur.
Created to stimulate local economic development, new and expanding businesses/ entrepreneurs are invited to submit their summary business plan and application by August 15, 2016 at 4pm. for an opportunity to secure financial assistance. The event will be held in front of a live audience at the Belgrave Arena on September 28, 2016 on the Opening Day of the Rural Talks to Rural Conference.
Seven angel investors will offer between $25,000 and $500,000, starting with those who are living and doing business in Huron or Perth County. In early August, a review team will choose the top 7 projects for the stage presentations on September 28th. Personal interviews with the finalists will be held in mid August to discuss the business plans and videotape a short introduction of each pitcher’s project for the event.
“We have a truly remarkable group of cross-sectoral enthusiastic investors ready to support viable new ideas,” says Jeff Roy, a member of the organizing committee. “We will focus on developing all the contestants to give them the best possible chance for success by having a bullpen with additional investors and banking representatives that may offer deeper engagement and opportunity to the finalists.”
Join in the fun and support local business!
