Student Sculpture Garden
Clinton’s public art project!
What is the student sculpture garden?
The Student Sculpture Garden is a display of illuminated metal sculptures in Millennium Park in Clinton. These sculptures are created by students and tradespeople, forging community partnerships. We hope to re-offer the project each year. The sculptures are a beacon of hope, creativity, and community for all to see.
Industry leaders met with students to plan and guide the projects. We gather sculptures as they are completed, with park installation. Additionally, we have installed an illuminating light series to highlight the sculptures with interactive lights that can be programmed by the artists.
What is the goal of the project?
Local youth has designed, created, and installed the project with help from industry professionals and trade associations. By receiving mentoring from local welders and metalwork artists during the creation process, students got hands-on experience in the trades, network, and explored career options. This project is a great opportunity for students to shine in their community while creating a lasting landmark.
The sculptures entice visitors to the heart of our downtown, providing more customers for local businesses while showcasing the talents of tradespeople and students. The project also facilitate the connection of talented and passionate youth with industry professionals who are seeking new workers. The community as a whole benefit from this wonderful initiative!
